The harbour weather station will be installed over the next few days but is currently operating in test mode (nearby).​

Live weather data (temperature, humidity, pressure, rainfall, light, wind speed and direction) are sent to the weather server every 20 seconds. The weather server stores the data and builds graphs etc.

Of the various weather servers that accept data from Personal Weather Stations, 'Weather Underground' has been selected (for now..) largely for the following reasons:

• the data transmissions are the most compact, using under 0.5Gb/month for 24/7 20 second updates - so compatible with mobile data used by the webcam

• users don't require an account to view a station's data 

• it is fast (compared to the very slow Met Office PWS site).

Disadvantages/problems:

• upon viewing the page for the first time the temperature will be displayed in degrees F (it's an American site) so use the cogwheel icon top right to select degrees C and this should endure via cookies (you can create a free account if you prefer).

• it's not been possible to display the wind speed in MPH or Knots as yet.

 

There is also a Weather Underground app (select our site using ITAYPO1) but the webpage displays are much superior.
